GFF Not Thinking Ahead

Guyana failed to win a game in the tournament, but McKinnon says that while there should be a feeling of dissatisfaction from the Guyanese public, one must understand that until the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) puts certain systems in place, only then can there be success.

Kayo's Football Academy was created for children between the ages of 6 to 16 years. The children in this academy are divided into two groups for training purposes; ages six to eleven (6-11) and ages twelve to sixteen (12-16) years. Sessions are held every Saturday from 9hrs to 11hrs. Besides the training in the skills and discipline of football, these children are taught social skills, hygiene and attend motivational talks once a month.

The academy intends to develop the child in what we call the four corners, namely

  • Physical: Stamina, agility, speed and co-ordinationKayode Mckinnon
  • Psychological: Self esteem, motivation, self confidence etc
  • Social: Etiquette, good communication and departmental
  • Technical: Fundamentals of different aspects of the game, instilling correct training habits and development of game techniques
